AL6061 aluminum body: 6061-T6 aluminum alloy with yield strength 276 MPa and hardness 95 HB. The anodized surface (Type II, 10–15 μm) provides corrosion resistance for water and coolant exposure in dusty environments. At 4.26 kg, the mass dampens vibration on heavy rotary tables and resists the loosening forces from stamping press vibration. Not recommended for direct impact from heavy forgings or castings — specify a steel-body variant for drop-impact environments.
PTFE composite seal with dust protection: The primary PTFE seal is identical to the standard BP-2P series, but it is protected by a labyrinth dust seal and a stamped steel shroud. The labyrinth creates a tortuous path that traps particles >10 μm before they reach the seal face. The shroud deflects large chips and splashes. IP65 rating means the joint is dust-tight and protected against water jets — but it is not submersible. For pressure-wash environments, specify additional bellows protection.
When to choose dust-proof over standard: If your environment generates >50 mg/m³ of airborne particulate (steel mill rolling line, foundry sand casting, stone cutting, or ceramic grinding), the dust-proof structure pays for itself in 3–6 months by eliminating seal replacements. In clean factory environments (<10 mg/m³), the standard BP-2P-0001 or BP-2P-30-0001 is more cost-effective.
BP-2P-50-0001 is designed for dual-air-line applications in heavy industrial environments where dust, chips, and abrasive particles are present. This model may be suitable for the listed applications when its passage count, mounting, medium, pressure, speed, and temperature limits match the machine requirements.
Proper installation extends seal life from 2–3 months to 8+ months in dusty environments. The most critical step for BP-2P-50-0001 is maintaining the dust seal integrity during installation — any gap in the labyrinth or shroud allows abrasive particles to bypass the protection and destroy the PTFE seal within days.
Confirm your equipment flange has 6×M5 threaded holes on a compatible bolt circle. BP-2P-50-0001 uses a six-bolt pattern to distribute the 4.26 kg mass across large rotary tables. Do not force-mount on a 4-bolt or 8-bolt pattern — uneven bolt spacing creates flange warp and breaks the dust seal alignment. Download the 2D drawing for exact P.C.D., hole diameter, and counterbore depth. Check mating flange flatness with a feeler gauge: must be within 0.05 mm to prevent dust ingress at the gasket edge.
Secure the flange using 6×M5 screws with spring washers. Torque to 3–4 N·m in a cross pattern (1-4-2-5-3-6 sequence) to distribute clamping force evenly. Overtightening beyond 5 N·m warps the AL6061 flange face, misaligning the labyrinth dust seal and creating a leak path. Use a torque wrench. After tightening, verify that the protective shroud has not been distorted by flange warp — rotate the shaft by hand and check for shroud-to-body contact.
If your model includes an anti-rotation tab, secure it to a fixed bracket with an M5 screw. Never let the stationary body rotate with the shaft — the supply hoses will twist and the seal will experience reverse torque, accelerating wear. In dusty environments, route the anti-rotation bracket so it does not trap chips against the dust seal. Leave 5–10 mm clearance between the bracket and the shroud for particle shedding.
Use flexible hoses (not rigid pipe) to connect the stationary side to the air supply. Rigid pipe transfers vibration and thermal expansion directly to the joint, stressing the seal. Install a 40-micron filter upstream to protect the PTFE seal from debris. In dusty environments, install the filter outside the dust zone — a filter inside the machine envelope will clog in hours. For water or coolant, add a Y-strainer (60 mesh) upstream. Label the two passages to prevent cross-connection during maintenance.
Run at low pressure (0.2 MPa) and low speed (10–20 RPM) for 10 minutes without load. This beds the PTFE seal against the shaft surface and allows the dust seal to find its natural running clearance. Check for leaks at the flange gasket and seal interfaces. If dry, gradually increase to operating pressure and speed over 15 minutes. Skipping the run-in is especially costly on dust-proof joints — a poorly bedded seal creates a leak path that draws dust into the labyrinth, destroying both seals within weeks.

The #1 cause of BP-2P-50-0001 failure in steel mills is neglecting the dust seal. A maintenance team runs the joint for 8 months without inspecting the labyrinth. Grinding dust packs into the labyrinth channels, hardening into an abrasive cake. When the shroud is finally removed, the dust has worn a groove 0.3 mm deep into the aluminum body. The PTFE seal was protected, but the body is now scrap. Rule: Blow out the labyrinth with compressed air (0.3 MPa max) every month in heavy dust. Inspect the shroud for dents every 3 months. A 5-minute blow-out prevents a $200 body replacement.
A technician assumes all M5 screws torque to 5 N·m and tightens the six flange bolts to that value. The AL6061 flange warps by 0.08 mm, misaligning the labyrinth dust seal. Dust enters through the high side of the flange gap, bypassing the labyrinth entirely. Within 3 weeks, the PTFE seal is scored by metal chips and both passages leak. Rule: Torque all 6 M5 screws to 3–4 N·m in a cross pattern. Use a torque wrench. The 6-bolt pattern is for load distribution, not higher individual bolt torque.
A foundry supervisor sees "IP65" and directs the pressure-wash crew to spray the joint directly during weekend cleaning. High-pressure water (5–10 MPa from the wash wand) forces past the labyrinth and shroud, contaminating the PTFE seal with water and foundry sand. The seal fails within 2 days. Rule: IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets from a nozzle — not direct high-pressure spray at close range. During washdown, cover the joint with a waterproof bag or shield. Do not aim pressure washers directly at the dust seal.
Other rotary joints commonly purchased with BP-2P-50-0001 — or the models you upgrade to when your application needs higher pressure, more passages, or a cleanroom variant.
The standard version uses AL6061 aluminum body with dust-proof IP65-rated seal structure and protective shroud. For stainless steel body options or higher-temperature variants, contact our team. All versions are ISO9001 certified. The export version includes English-language documentation, CE marking, and RoHS compliance certificate. Both versions have identical pressure, speed, and dust protection ratings. The 6-M5 flange pattern and 4.26 kg mass are standard across all versions.
Yes — the PTFE composite seal is compatible with water, water-soluble coolant, and light hydraulic oil (up to ISO VG 32). The AL6061 aluminum body is anodized for additional corrosion resistance. For continuous water duty in dusty environments, derate pressure to 0.7 MPa and speed to 60 RPM to reduce seal wear and prevent sludge buildup in the labyrinth. Do not pressure-wash the dust seal directly — IP65 protects against water jets but not close-range high-pressure spray. For submersion or aggressive coolant, specify stainless steel (304/316) or contact Begapunk for seal compatibility review.
BP-2P-50-0001 uses a flange mount with 6×M5 screws on a specific bolt circle diameter. Download the 2D PDF drawing for exact P.C.D., hole diameter, counterbore depth, and tolerances. Ensure your equipment mating flange matches before ordering. The six-bolt pattern is designed for heavy tables where four bolts would create uneven clamping on the 4.26 kg body. Custom flange patterns (e.g., 8-M5 or 4-M6) are available as special orders with 5–7 day additional lead time.

The file includes the AL6061 body variant, 6-M5 flange pattern, dust seal labyrinth geometry, protective shroud, and anti-rotation bracket mounting hole pattern. Use the 3D file to verify clearance, port direction, flange bolt engagement, and shroud clearance in your CAD assembly before ordering. 3D files may be provided for qualified projects after the application requirements are reviewed. File availability and response time depend on the model and the project information provided.
Upgrade when your application exceeds the dust-proof 1 MPa / 100 RPM envelope or needs additional passages. Common triggers: (1) Your pressure requirement exceeds 1.0 MPa — BP-2P-130-0001 handles 5 MPa and BP-2P-95-0001 handles 10 MPa. (2) Your speed exceeds 100 RPM — BP-2P-0001 handles 500 RPM in clean environments. (3) You need 3+ independent air functions — BP-3P-0004 provides triple passage. (4) Your environment requires food-grade or FDA compliance — contact Begapunk for custom FDA seal and stainless body. (5) You need a pressurized purge port for extreme dust (>500 mg/m³) — specify a custom purge-compatible design. The upgrade cost is typically $30–$160 more than BP-2P-50-0001, but it prevents catastrophic seal failure in out-of-spec conditions.
We design custom rotary joints for any number of passages, pressure, thread type, and mounting style. Free 3D STEP file with every inquiry. Typical custom lead time: 10–14 days.
